Melt Festival

With the help of major partner American Express, MELT Festival returns to Brisbane Powerhouse this November. Now in its eighth iteration, the forward and fearless annual celebration of queer art, artists, allies and ideas features ground-breaking home-grown musicians alongside international sensations, provocative and hilarious theatre, exhibitions showcasing exquisite photography, textile art and installations as well as a book launch and talk. Music highlights include leading UK dance artist Aluna, previously half of AlunaGeorge, joined by electronic producer and songwriter KUČKA, Grammy-nominated dance-pop sensation Kah-Lo joined by First Nations artist Djanaba, TOPS with Jane Penny, and more. Bunny by artists and performers Luke George and Daniel Kok returns to Australia to headline the theatre program, after touring to 15 cities across Asia, Europe and North America (including the Venice Biennale). Paul Yore’s BECOME WHAT YOU ARE and The Huxleys’ Places of Worship form the basis of a spectacular free visual arts exhibition suite, while Rhys Nicholson’s book tour for Dish rounds out the festival. MELT takes place from November 11 – 16, 2023.
