Melbourne Design Week

Melbourne Design Week is an annual 11-day program of talks, tours, exhibitions and workshops that celebrate and interrogate design through its varied disciplines, including: communication design, industrial design, service design, gaming, architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, fashion, craft and functional art. The three pillars of the 2023 theme, Design the world you want, are transparency, currency and legacy. More than 150 designers and over 60 exhibitors take over the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre during the centrepiece of Design Week, Melbourne Design Fair, running from May 18–21, 2023. This iteration of the fair also debuts ‘discovery’ and ‘focus’, two new sections dedicated to emerging and female designers and makers respectively. Concurrently, the Melbourne Art Book Fair is on at the National Gallery of Victoria, from May 19–21, 2023. Design Week also comprises a host of events held at ateliers, studios, retail spaces, universities, galleries, gardens and public spaces throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria. Participation in the satellite program is via an expression-of-interest process. Melbourne Design Week runs until May 28, 2023.
