Collective Rebrand
One of Australia’s best loved and most successful contemporary dance companies, Expressions Dance Company, has recently rebranded as Australian Dance Collective. Established in 1984, the company has created over 175 works by 70 international and national choreographers, and earnt a reputation for its innovative programs. With an ensemble of six dancers, the company has achieved three Helpmann Awards and three Australian Dance Awards. Under the direction of new Artistic Director, Amy Hollingsworth, in 2020 the Queensland-based company enters a new era. The year kicks off with THREE, featuring local, national and international choreographers, and brings to Australia Hofesh Shechter, one of the world’s most sought-after choreographers. In May, Succession sees 36 artists sharing the stage, including the collective’s Youth Ensemble. The third production of 2020 is the fourth instalment of CADEP (Chinese Australian Dance Exchange Project) a collaboration with Shenzhen’s Round House Dance Company, showcasing the 20 artists of the two combined companies.
