Heide MOMA

Australian Art for the Global Stage Symposium and Launch Event

VAULT Magazine, in collaboration with our friends at Heide MOMA, hosted the first in a series of public conversations that aim to explore big ideas in Australian contemporary art. VAULT’s editor Neha Kale was joined by artist Abdul Abdullah, Mark Feary, the artistic director of Gertrude Contemporary and international collector Danny Goldberg in a discussion that surveyed the impact of cultural cringe on the Australian art world, the changing role of Asian art capitals as well as the possibilities and challenges that face Australian artists hoping to sustain a global career in the age of Instagram to an audience of over 100. The panel concluded with drinks and refreshments on the terrace overlooking the Heide sculpture garden, an iconic place for Modernist art in Australia, supported by Sample Brew. We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who attended the event.
