Taking Back our Space: Photographic Perspectives
Taking Back Our Space: Photographic Perspectives examines the politics of gendered, racialised and queer space through the work of pioneering German artist Marianne Wex alongside a cross-generational selection of contemporary photographers. Wex’s landmark photographic project documents the coded body language and spatial behaviours through which patriarchal power is performed in everyday life, providing a critical foundation for artists who continue to interrogate visibility, identity and belonging. Bringing historical and contemporary practices into dialogue, the exhibition explores how photography can expose entrenched social structures while reclaiming public and private space as sites of resistance, agency and collective representation. From September 20 to May 2.
