SOUTH WEST BIENNIAL 2026: TRACEWORK
The inaugural South West Biennial, presented by Bunbury Regional Art Gallery, launches with Tracework, a multi-venue exhibition exploring traces as markers of encounter, memory, and creative process. Curated by Dr Michael Bianco and Dionne Hooyberg, the Biennial positions the south west of Western Australia as both a site of artistic production and a meeting point for local and visiting practices, functioning as a map of the region’s creative landscape and a crossroads for dialogue. Tracework features 28 artists from across south-western regions, alongside solo and collaborative installations by Jacobus Capone, Olga Cironis, Amber Cronin and Tom Borgas, Sharyn Egan, and Andy Quilty, offering a rich mix of contemporary approaches to material, place and memory. The exhibition spans 6 partner venues, including Albany Town Hall, Arts Narrogin, Holmes à Court Gallery at Vasse Felix, Margaret River HeART, Southern Forest Arts, and Vancouver Arts Centre, inviting audiences to follow both visible and invisible threads that connect the region’s communities, histories and landscapes. The Biennial runs from March 21 to July 19, 2026.
