Every Picture Tells a Story

King Street Gallery on William presents Every Picture Tells a Story, a group exhibition featuring leading contemporary Australian and international artists. The exhibition examines the creative journey behind each artwork, revealing the processes of thinking, making, and refining that shape the final image. Each artist accompanies their exhibited work with an artist book—whether a concertina, handmade, or sketchbook form—containing notes, drawings, studies, and visual experiments that trace the evolution of their ideas. These books, carried from studio to site and back again, blur the boundary between process and finished work, functioning as artworks in their own right. Together, they offer an intimate glimpse into the act of creation and challenge us to reconsider where a story begins and ends. Every Picture Tells a Story is showing from November 18 to December 18, 2025.
