Offering[S]: Tony Kearney

In offering[s], award-winning South Australian photographer Tony Kearney Kearneypresents a striking portrait series that honours the region’s vibrant creative community. Comprising 75 black and white images, the exhibition features contemporary artists photographed with personal objects. These items speak to their practice, heritage, or inner life. Ranging from tools and artworks to talismans and heirlooms, each image transforms into a multi-layered meditation on creativity and meaning. Shot entirely on medium and large-format analogue film, the project underscores Kearney’s commitment to craft, process and the enduring power of the photographic portrait. With its stark tonal palette and formal elegance, offering[s] is both an intimate glimpse into the lives of artists and a lasting visual archive for future generations. It is a timely and considered record of artistic identity in South Australia that invites reflection on the objects we carry and the stories they hold. Supported by the Centre for Creative Photography, ATKINS LAB, Ortus Wines and SALA, this exhibition affirms the role of photography not only as documentation, but as a medium that captures the moment. It is on display from July 24 to August 16, 2025.
