Cézanne to Giacometti: Highlights from Museum Berggruen / Neue Nationalgalerie
More than eighty works from the collection of Museum Berggruen / Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin and 75 drawn from the National Gallery of Australia come together in Cézanne to Giacometti. The collaborative exhibition marks the first time works from the German collection will be seen in Australia. Groundbreaking avant-garde artists including Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse, Paul Klee and Alberto Giacometti will be shown alongside the work of Australian artists such as Russell Drysdale, Grace Cossington Smith, John Passmore and Dorrit Black, who encountered the former in Europe and brought their ideas and style back to transformative effect. Cézanne to Giacometti, which conveys the dynamic story of Modernism’s development here and abroad, will be shown from May 31 to September 21, 2025.
