Earth Canvas

Earth Canvas brings together 70 works – the outcome of a unique site-specific initiative that introduced significant artists to the special farmlands of Australia. At large, Earth Canvas is a not-for-profit group made up of six regenerative farmers based in southern New South Wales who, through the initiative, have opened the gates of their properties to six leading Australian landscape artists who subsequently made work on these regenerative farms during 2019. Participating artists John Wolseley, Janet Laurence, Jenny Bell, Idris Murphy, Jo Davenport and Ros Atkins were each connected with one farmer and engaged in a collaborative exchange that traversed knowledge systems within regenerative farming, science, education and art making. The exhibition will travel to four states across Australia, with a closing exhibition at the Australian National Museum in Canberra in October 2022. Earth Canvas is showing at Riddoch Art Gallery, Mt Gambier until August 29, 2021, Mildura Arts Centre from September 16 to November 28, 2021, Museum of the Riverina, Wagga Wagga from December 7, 2021 to February 27, 2022, Tamworth Regional Gallery from April 15 to June 12, 2022, Griffith Regional Art Gallery from June 18 to July 24, 2022 and Australian National Museum, Canberra from August 25 to October 3, 2022.
