Agatha Gothe-Snape:
Perimeter Editions X MUMA

The Outcome Is Certain is the first major monograph tracing Sydney artist Agatha Gothe-Snape’s unique poetic work. Gothe-Snape has shown extensively in both Australian and international contexts, undertaking solo exhibitions at Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, Performance Space in Sydney and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, among others. She has also exhibited as part of major international biennales, including the Biennale of Sydney (2016), PERFORMA, New York (2015) and the Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art (2014). Her work is characterised by colour, text, minimal aesthetics and an economy of materials across art forms, from improvised drawings to sculpture, installation, plaques, billboards, permanent road markings, video, wall painting, architectural interventions, virtual reality, scores, workshops and live performance. Her practice gives form to the intangible and highlights the encounter between art and audience, and between art and life.

Published with Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) to coincide with her major survey exhibition of the same title, the book includes rarely-seen drawings, notations and scores that offer insights into the artist’s processes and underpinnings, alongside new commissioned texts by Julie Ewington, Anneke Jaspers, Erik Jensen, Jenn Joy and Gemma Weston. The book is published by Perimeter Editions X MUMA.
