Martino Gamper Reimagines Moroso

602

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Italian furniture giant Moroso, London-based designer Martino Gamper has reinterpreted eight of the company’s pieces in a collection entitled The Metamorfosi. Taking elements from classic pieces and adding his own twist, Gamper was invited to Moroso’s factory in Udine to create his own collage of colors that re-imagine the brand’s kaleidoscope-like designs. One of the most notable reworkings is Gamper’s take on Ron Arad’s 2001 Victoria and Albert sofa (shown above). Regarded as one of the industry’s most unique talents, Gamper gained international attention through his project “100 Chairs in 100 Days,” during which he collected discarded chairs off London’s streets in an effort to give them new life and explore their sociological context.
